Impact of reduced Astra Zeneca vaccine supply on patients’ bookings at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT) Vaccination Centres in early April
The following email was sent by Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust. This may not impact you, but please pass on if someone else you know may be. – Editor
As you will be aware, there is a reduction in vaccine available for first doses throughout April and a number of our sites will therefore be open for a reduced number of days over the next 2 weeks. HCT has therefore contacted all patients who had bookings at vaccination centres now operating on reduced opening times. They are now able to rebook their appointments on the NHS England National Booking System (NBS) up to and including the 11th of April, subject to availability. A full list of site opening times can be found at the bottom of this email.
Using this service, patients will be able to book both first and second doses if they are from the highest priority categories. In order to ensure Health and Social Care Workers continue to receive their first and second doses of the vaccine, HCT is operating a walk-in policy at all of their centres in the Hertfordshire and West Essex area.
Unfortunately the NBS is still continuing to text confirmation messages of their old appointments which may lead to some of your constituents contacting you, should they arrive at one of HCT’s centres only to find it closed. We have escalated this issue and hope this may be resolved but unfortunately this is out of HCT’s control as it does not run the NBS. However this information may be helpful in case you were contacted about this issue.
As the programme develops, HCC and HCT continues to explore other ways of reaching all members of the community including the use of mobile, pop-up and drive-in options. We will keep you up to date as we develop these options.
