We have recently receive reports of potential blue-green algae in some of the lakes at Moor Mill.

Algae occur naturally in rivers, streams and lakes. When conditions are favourable, they can form blooms that make the water appear green, blue-green or brown. Some types of algae – specifically Cyanobacteria, often referred to as blue-green algae can produce toxins that may be harmful to people, pets and wildlife.

CMCS Fisheries are aware of this common seasonal phenomenon and are actively monitoring the lakes. Please take sensible precautions when visiting the area, including keeping pets away from the water to ensure everyone’s safety.
