(Evening/overnight of 17th Aug) The outside storage boxes was broken into, the padlocks taken, the contents including 10 duvets that had been donated by Sainsbury’s for dog bedding
The second time it happened (between 1930 18th August 0800 Friday 19th) the whole storage unit plus equipment we use for obstacle training was taken.
Damage is approximately £500.
Police don’t have enough evidence to investigate further.
Statement from Louise Jenkins, Community Engagement Officer
We were deeply saddened to find that on two occasions, equipment for our guide dogs in training had been stolen from our Park Street office storage units. Our team use these premises to provide life changing services to people with sight loss in Herts, Beds and Essex. As a charity we rely on donations, and our fantastic volunteers, who give up their time to raise money so that we continue helping people with sight loss gain freedom and independence. The cost of the damage and stolen goods is approximately £500 including ten duvets that were generously donated to us by Sainsbury’s for dog bedding which we are now in need of. If you would like to make any donation big or small to help replace our stolen goods, please call 01189 838713 or email
