We’re launching a monthly get-together to be held every fourth Tuesday of the month from 2-4pm for older residents of the Village. Held at the Park Street Village Hall, we’ll treat you to tea and cakes and light entertainment.
For our inaugural event, Simon Mostyn will entertain you with his lively piano tunes. In addition to his busy life as a lawyer and activist, Simon enjoys extensive hobbies (football fan, piano playing, tennis player, Simon also represents Hertfordshire in national bridge tournaments) and playing the piano is one of his favourite things to do. You may have met him when he campaigned as the Lib Dem Councillor candidate earlier in the year.
Simon’s been playing the piano since he was 5, taught by his late father, who was in the music business and who was also an arranger and band leader. Big band era standards were his favourite–the American greats, Cole Porter, George Gerswin and Irving Berlin were 3 of his top favourites. Simon received more classical training and obtained a grade 8 distinction when he was 14, however, he decided against music as a career and has remained a lifelong keen amateur.
Tuesday he’s prepared something very special for the event–a musical trivia quiz! Your musical knowledge and quick reflexes will be put to the test, and it’s sure to be entertaining.
Enjoy this preview of the afternoon to come. And check out the future line-up here.
