Christmas Lights Turn On Photos 2019

PSRA held our Christmas Lights turn on, on the Thursday, the 5th of December.

We were privileged to listen to our great local Big Band Badje, led by our Magazine Editor and fellow committee member, Joy Mendelsohn, accompanied by local choirs from How Wood School and Park Street Schools.

We were also proud to have former Councillor Ian Getley and a representative from each of the schools present to turn on the lights. If you don’t know Ian then you ought to, because he’s a very community spirited man, ably assisted by his wife Sue at times. Both Ian and Sue were PSRA members and Ian was the last but one Chairman. Ian some of you may know has been a Parish Councillor and stepped down earlier this year with over 22 years’ service. In that time, he brought us lots to celebrate in the village, such as the Parish fete, the Carol Concert, and the wonderful Remembrance Day Service we have every year. And more importantly a tradition PSRA are continuing today with the Christmas Lights. Thank you to Ian for giving up his time to help the local community event.

Hopefully everyone who attended enjoyed the evening, especially the mulled wine/hot chocolate from PSRA and mince pies provided by Co-op Food, as well as the local shops including Lily Alley florists holding their own Christmas event, and the other shops that stayed open late.

We would just like to say a big thank you to ALL our local businesses, some of whom were open later than usual, in supporting us:
  • Ruth from JW & Co Langleys without whom we can’t set up our refreshments
  • Everyone at Co-Op who donated the mince pies to us and were open for business as usual
  • Martin at Kraft Stationery for all our printing
  • Alley and Wendy at Lily Alley – who had their event also
  • The staff at Keech Charity who always join in with us to celebrate and were open
  • Kevin and staff – Bok N’ Rose
  • Karishma from the Chemist and their lovely staff who donated our first aid
  • Dave from Cutting Corner
  • Ibo at the Fish Bar
  • Bob from the SunTan centre
  • And Village Spice and Moonlight

Our businesses provide a huge amount of value to our community and we hope that you recognise them with your support.

Christmas lights are organised by your Park Street Residents Association.  We are a group of volunteers, who love where we live and want to encourage a REAL sense of community, which is quite special these days, just like our village! If you would like to know more or can help us In ANY WAY – we need new Committee Members and always want helpers. Please respond in the Comments or send an email to us.
